Letter to Young Scholarship Seeker!
Dear younger Thao Nguyen,

I hope you are doing well. I am now flooded with the journey memories to our dream university. Looking back now, I sincerely want to thank you for becoming a part of my precious youth memories.

After 4 arduous months, do you still remember how happy you are when finishing RMIT DIARY? I am even so confident that your name would one day appear on the honor scholarship board in a chapter of the book. However, I believe that RMIT DIARY has already become a part of your 18 year-old journey, regardless of the result.

Finding the proper answer for the question "Why do I deserve this scholarship?" was really challenging. Low grades and not outstanding extracurricular activities may make you doubt yourself a lot. However, we both hold on to the belief that RMIT is not looking for the best people but the most suitable one. And I am so proud that you have been so brave to give yourself a try.
“Whatever the root cause (ethnic conflicts, land disputes, political instability, foreign manipulation), we must understand that we owe ethnic minorities quality education”
Summer 2020 saw a growth in mindset when having the chance to become a volunteer teacher in a minor region of Vietnam. Following that was a series of volunteering acts on education aimed for the underprivileged. But you knew that was not enough. Then you realized the power of mass communication to convey these meaningful messages to the community. This rationale made you decide to apply for Professional Communication at RMIT and produce your own creative digital portfolio.

The day your name was called out to the stage to receive a Professional Communication Scholarship officially came. Tears welled up when seeing the biggest smile from our parents filming, getting the hugest applause from 200 strange guests and becoming the main character for a moment. This moment is the sweetest reward for an unwavering pursuit of passion.

Congratulation! You will see that what is even more valuable than this scholarship is all the experience you gained.

The biggest lesson I learned through this journey is to truly believe in myself, regardless of the starting points, and willing to try, experience and reflect to gain a clearer perspective on what I am aiming for.
